On August 24, I was hit by a pickup truck while riding my bike. After an ambulance ride to the ER, we discovered that I had a broken left clavicle and broken right thumb. It was not a comfortable recovery but due to the love of my family and friends, and some excellent medical care, I have been healing well. My orthopedic surgeon said that after six weeks, I am half-way to being 90% healed.
In the process, we discovered that my road bike had several cracks in the frame, requiring me to get a new bike. This was a sad moment for me as my old bike and I had some great memories (and one really bad memory). Anyway, I just got my new bike – a custom build Cervelo R3 that rides incredibly well.
